I have been diligent in my pursuit of medicine as a career because I am convinced that medicine offers me the opportunity to live a fulfilling, rewarding life dedicated to helping others. I will enter medicine eager to learn and thirsting for the knowledge to help my fellow human beings. Attending The Chicago Medical School would be one of the greatest rewards for my motivation and persistence for success. I swear to uphold and exceed all that is expected of a future physician while promoting the progress of medicine and humanity.
I am a mother of 3 girls, I own a small business, however it is not making any money.
I am currently enrolled in 2 programs (which are both distance education, with a hands on component). They were my only options to learn my chosen fields of study, but they are wonderful programs I am loving very much. My previous education includes diploma programs, a bachelor degree and post-graduate education.
I am studying a veterinary naturopathy doctorate and a manual osteopathy doctorate. I am a Canadian student, however the veterinary naturopathy school is in the US. The manual osteopathy school is in Canada. I am having a very hard time finding scholarships for programs such as mine, scholarships for private schools such as mine, however, I really need to find a scholarship to help me out. I know that it said that they have to be accredited medical schools and they are both accredited by certification boards, but they are private schools. My osteopathy tuition is due in February, so I want to find something I can hopefully get to help me pay for my next semester tuition. I make monthly payments for my veterinary naturopathy degree, however, due to finances, I had to put my studies on hold, but my leave is now up and I need to begin paying again.
The veterinary naturopathy program includes animal massage, and I plan to specialize in animal massage/osteopathy. I will have to do a few extra courses upon completion of the doctorate for animal massage, but that is the route I would like to take. I want to be able to work part time with people using manual osteopathy and part time with animals using massage and osteopathy.
I can find scholarships for veterinary medicine, however they do not include veterinary naturopathy. I can find scholarships for specific schools for acupuncture, etc., but nothing for manual osteopathy. I can’t find any scholarships for women doing school or women with children that are for private schools like mine are.
I am hoping you have a scholarship I can apply for with my situation or at least know of where I can find some to apply for.
Not only do I want to be able to care for the animals and people in my community which is underserviced in manual osteopathy and animal massage & osteopathy. I want to be able to help my oldest daughter who would like to go to school to become a veterinarian. She would be able to work with me which would help her with her application for vet school (when she graduates high school and applies), as well as give her the opportunity to work with animals since she loves them just as much as I do. I also want to share my knowledge with my other 2 girls. They have chosen to go into fields that also are in natural health. I want to build my practice up by that time so I can pay for their education. I feel it is very important to show my 3 girls that women can do anything they want as a career, they can do anything they put their minds to and they can be successful, not having to rely on anyone else.
I also need to start my practice in what I am studying to finally start making money. Currently I am not and my husband is struggling to support the 5 of us. I want to be able to help him so he doesn’t have such a hard time doing so and we can better provide for our girls.
Any information you can give me is very much appreciated.
