All of us have had a teacher who has made a profound difference in our livessomeone who changed our lives, made us think more deeply, set our feet on the right path. Perhaps it was a teacher we met in a classroom, but it could just have easily been a coach, a youth group leader, a family or community elder, or religious leader. In this project, students write a tribute to such a teacher, someone who has taught them an important lesson that they still remember. The personal essays that students write for this lesson are then published in a class collection. Because writing about someone who has been a significant influence is a typical topic for college application essays, the lesson's extensions include resources for writing more traditional, formal papers.

A Tribute to Teachers Who Made a Difference
Students should have a chance to read the various tributes included in the class collection. Informal feedback in the class from other students who know the teacher being described or remember similar lessons taught by another teacher can provide useful encouragement for students and underscore how audiences react to details and specific information. Perhaps the best informal feedback a student can mention is to say, I wish I had that teacher. Listen for such comments as students share their work and ask readers to elaborate for the author on the details of the tribute that led them to make such a wish.

the teacher for their tribute essay …
We are so excited to begin our 7th season at Tribute National Talent starting in January 2018. Over the last seven years we have had the privilege and honor of seeing thousands of dancers from across the country and hundreds of outstanding dance studios and teachers attend our events. From day one we have always focused on the importance of family and to share with others the love, respect and appreciation that is so important. With hundreds of choices on dance competitions and conventions to attend, we always want our company to stand out by not only hosting a very professional event but to be different in a positive way. We don’t just focus on a score or award, we share a message that does in some way make a huge impact on others. Every dance competition has similar aspects that are visible as you attend a variety of events, but at Tribute we are the only competition that takes a moment away from competing to have dancers share the love they have for their parents. We have always done everything we can to make sure parents are recognized for the contributions they make for dance by allowing their sons and daughters to do what they love. We hope that we have the opportunity to see you at one of our events in 2018 to experience the difference at Tribute National Talent. Here’s to an amazing new season of dance and memories.

As a matter of policy, the BEJS encourages young and often first time authors to send in their articles for publication. And we are proud to report that over the years many such authors have gone on to make a name for themselves in their respective fields of work. The journal also delves into areas, often controversial or sensitive, that other more reputed journals may not venture into. BEJS has, thus, published articles on terrorism, militancy, suicide bombing, Boko Haram, genital mutilation, street based sex workers, gangs of female rapists and domestic violence among others. Besides, the wide range of issues covered by the journal are authored by sociologists and non-sociologists alike, including engineers, public servants, preachers, social workers etc. The e-Journal itself, therefore, is a major contribution to the academic world in its own right and continues to strive for greater achievements.
